Red Sox get Bedard

The Red Sox traded for lefty starter Erik Bedard at Sunday's MLB Trading Deadline. Boston also received right-hander Josh Fields as part of the three-team deal with the Mariners and Dodgers.

The Red Sox send minor league right-handers Stephen Fife and Juan Rodriguez and catcher Tim Federowicz to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for outfielder Trayvon Robinson and then traded Robinson to Seattle with minor league outfielder Chih-Hsien Chiang in exchange for Bedard and Fields.

The team also announced that pitcher Clay Buchholz has been moved to the 60-day disabled list to make room for Bedard on the 40-man roster.  Buchholz would be eligible to come off the DL on August 16th if his back injury heals.

Bedard, 32, is 4-7 with 3.45 ERA, 87 strikeouts and 30 walks in 16 starts for the Mariners sp far this season.
