College Students, Credit, and a Career

by @butterfliesblue

Due to the rising costs of tuition, books, and housing a college education seems impossible to pay for at times. Because of the competition of the job force, it is becoming a necessity. Over the next few years, a Bachelor's Degree will become the new High School Diploma causing many people to continue their education further than expected. With all of these factors often comes student loans to help pay for school, and credit cards to help pay off of those loans. Because of how loans are done now, you don't have to start paying on them until after you graduate. Seems like a simple harmless solution right? It all depends on how you manage your finances.

It's not a wise thing to get too many credit cards throughout your college years, however; store credit cards are a good way to build your credit. Beware of high interest rates on credit cards that'll make paying them off almost impossible. Paying your bills on time is also a good way to improve your credit. Bad credit can prevent you from getting more than your dream car or home.

After graduation, it is hard to find the job that you want. For the time being, many people just get what they can. Did you know that your credit can prevent you from getting a good job? It doesn't matter how clean your criminal background is or how many achievements you have. If your credit is bad, say good bye to that job. Jobs that often check your credit are in the criminal justice, security, or finance industries. You don't want to mess up a good opportunity at a career for irresponsibility so practice good money habits while in college.

Monkey on Your Back?

By @butterfliesblue

Most people at some time in their life have had a bad habit which may be known as "having a monkey on one's back". This habit could be promiscuous sex, getting back into a bad relationship, smoking, drinking, gossiping, etc. Whatever it is, it's not good for you nor the people that may be involved. The truth is that people don't have bad habits just to have them. There is something so strong that keeps a hold onto that won't let you go. This is not for those that know they have a bad habit. This is for those that want to help get rid of it.

The first step in trying to get rid of a problem is admitting that you have one, You can't get better being in denial. It is important to try to figure out where does it comes from. Here are some examples of problems and possible sources of the problem.

Many people get stuck going back and forth to bad relationships. Are you afraid that you will not find anyone else? Do you not think that you deserve better? People that gossip seem to be seeking attention or acceptance. People that are always suspicious of others may not be able to trust their selves. Whatever the problem that you have, you need to find the source.

The best way of getting rid of any problem is changing your thought pattern. Actions comes from your thoughts so try to either broaden your horizon or spend some alone time doing serious thinking. Once your mind is changed, you won't have the desire to do that action anymore. Be careful with this though, The fact that you may have a problem is a red flag that maybe this can not be solved alone. Try to find someone to talk with unbiased opinions or do some reading on your problem. Whatever it is try not to do it completely alone. Most importantly if you have serious problems and don't want to pay for a Doctor visit, go to http://www.drphil.com/. If he can't help you, then you're just screwed.

Males In Music: Does Sexual Preference Matter?

by @butterfliesblue

Being a celebrity automatically makes someone a target for scrutiny because people are so quick to judge others. Many people that are judged the most are the ones in the music industry. For some reason, there is an obsession with a person's sexual preference. When it comes to sexual preference, it seems as though male r&b artists can't win for losing. On the other hand, male rappers seem to be thought as an epitome for masculinity.

Many people are so quick to call male R&B artist's gay because of their music. They write music that ladies love, and aren't too afraid to show emotion. Since when is respecting a woman the way a man should supposed to be gay? Male rappers often are looked up to as "masculine" because of the content in their music and videos. A man that's comfortable enough to show emotion is a real man, but being materialistic does not make a man anymore masculine. I thought loving to shop was a female trait anyway. Rappers' lyrics are often full of anger (which may be insecurities), and sexually explicit lyrics (that may be curious). Their videos often promote bisexual activity among women, If a rapper is comfortable enough to promote female on female action, then I think that he may like a little man on man action too. Both are equally disgusting, and preferring one over the other is a sick double standard. They often sag their pants too. How many straight men want another man looking at him in his draws, and call their self pretty?

I'm just saying since people are so quick to judge male R&B artists, put rappers under the same scope. It isn't fair, and it shows immaturity.

People vs Animals: Where is the love?

By @ButterfliesBlue

One of the things that does not makes sense are society's priorities. As we can see above, people campaign for animal rights, but wouldn't give an unborn child a chance at life. I do not condone animal cruelty, but a human's life does not get any respect. In some cases a person can get more time for harming an animal then for killing a person whether born or unborn. Let's compare and contrast some facts.
  1. Spaying and neutering pets can help keep the animal population down, but abortion can be harmful for women.

  2. A fertilized egg starts to multiply it's cells within seconds after conception. Organisms are the only things that can have cell replication.
  3. According to Genesis 1:28, humans have rights to use the earth as needed, and are also commanded to be fruitful and multiply.

I am in no way for animal cruelty because certain actions are just unnecessary. I'm just saying that you should not feel bad for wanting that leather purse, fur coat, or steak cooked well done. One of the plagues of Egypt in Exodus 11 instructed the Jews to kill a lamb. In the New Testament, fish were mentioned to be eaten many times. We should not deprive ourselves of what nature has to offer.

People say that life doesn't begin until birth. If this were truth, then why would prenatal care be important? If you do not want to have kids, but think that you may be pregnant then consider the alternatives. Many people that can not have kids naturally would love to have a child of their own. You never know what good they may bring to the world. It's a sad day when animals get better treatment than humans. Finally, no, abortion is NOT a woman's right to choose because that is not your life that you are ending. You lived yours. Give someone else a chance.

A Letter to Haters

By: @butterfliesblue

Dear Haters,

You are as fake as your lack of an attempt to get to know the one that you hate on. Your assumptions have already spoken volumes about you, and the person that you hate on is already better than you. The same ones that you talk about others to will talk about you too, but you're too caught up in your judgments to see that. You subliminally call out people and talk behind their backs because you are a coward. Your words only strengthen the one that you can't stand because your negativity only encourages them. The fact that you'd rather listen to word of mouth instead of going to the source says a lot about your maturity, or in this case your lack thereof. The more you hate on someone the more you choose your fate because God will make you out to be a footstool so I hope you're ready to bear that weight. Now you can either heed to the warning like the smart person that you portray yourself to be, or you could continue to be your own downfall. Either way it's your choice, but don't be surprised when your face hits the floor.
Signed,
                                   Your Obsession

"Just Friends" : Are You Sure?

By @butterfliesblue

Scenario 1 (female): You and this guy have grown up together. You two have been through everything from daycare to church. You two get older and both of you start to change. You get to middle school and start to mature, and both of you start to do your own thing. Both of you have had your crushes, and he gets a girlfriend. You start feeling jealous, but never show it until you realize how much time you and him don't spend together. The jealousy is brought about by feelings that you didn't know that were there. So are you two still just friends?

Scenario 2 (male): You and your home girl who is sort of like a sister to you, kicks it with you normally. She is someone that you trust, but in a completely platonic way, in fact, she's more like one of the boys. You both know each others family. Everyone knows that you two are friends when they see you they see her. Shoot, because of the friendship, both of you are always single. One night for whatever reason while you two are kicking it, things get a little hot and heavy. Let's just say that you two go from watching a movie to having a movie watch you. So are you two still just friends?

Males and females have had platonic relationships for years. Because of these friendships one person often catches feelings for the other which is often not mutual. Sometimes things happen between friends that are sexual. My question to you is, if someone catches feelings for a friend or have relations that are actually intimate, are they truly still just friends?

Are You Wearing the Right Sized Bra?

by @butterfliesblue

Most women wear the wrong size bra, and males are curious about how bra sizes work. For those of you that fit into this category, this article is for you.

  1. Measure your band size. Take a measuring tape and measure directly up under your bust like so. Go to fullsize image
If the band size is an odd number, go up to the nearest even number.
  2. Measure your bust. Place the measuring tape around the fullest part of your breast.Go to fullsize image
  3. Finding your cup size. To find your cup size, subtract the band size from the bust size and for each inch over, go up the corresponding cup size. For example if your band size is 34 inches, and the bust size is 38. Subtract 34 from 38 which leaves you with four inches. Take those four inches then count A, B, C, D. This will make you a 34D.
  4. Try on bras. Remember all brands and styles of bras are made different so you need to try on different ones to see what's comfortable for you.

Because no bra is created equal, this measuring system is standard so that you can have a ballpark figure of where you may need to be. Fuller figured women cannot wear the same bra as a thinner woman. Playtex, Bali, Curvation, and Lane Bryant all have bras that have good support for fuller figures. I personally like Bali because they are soft and flexible. Thinner women can usually get away with pretty much everything. Also if you want a padded or push-up bra, then you may want to go up a cup size to prevent spillage.

Autism Awareness

By @butterfliesblue

Autism is a mental handicap that effects many people and is usually detected in early childhood. Despite what many may think or have heard, it does not mean that people effected by it are not as intelligent as others. In fact, many people with autism are way more intelligent than most people. The reason that people may feel this way is because autism simply puts a person in their own little world. They tend to have repetitive behavior and problems socializing. They cannot communicate the way that most people can. Some sources say that autism is cause by genetic defects while others say that childhood immunizations are the cause of it. Celebrities such as Holly Robinson-Peete, Jim Carrey, Jenny McCarthy and Toni Braxton all have autistic children and have spoken out about this.

The reason that this came to my mind is because the beginning of 50 Tyson's music video mentioned autism. I think whoever laughs at him should feel bad because he cannot help the way he is. I honestly did not think he was serious at first, but now that I know that he's autistic I feel for him. If you are intested in learning more or donating to help fight autism visit AutismSpeaks.org

Is It Just A Kiss???

by @butterfliesblue

I've seen more than one guy tweet about cheating. They've said that if a woman finds out her man has been cheating and been sleeping with another female we tend to forgive them, but then ask the question, "But did you kiss her?" Then they've gone on to tweet that having sex with another female is worst than kissing her and that they think it's a dumb question.

Picture from Google Images

Well as a female here is my point of view. We've all read and heard how men use sex to express their feelings for a woman so I can understand why they would feel like sex is worst case scenario. But as a female I feel like kissing is worse because if you do it just right, then it'll stay in your mind. I'm not going to lie, I have fell for a kiss before. To me it seems so much more intimate then going ahead and just knocking boots. You can learn so much about a person by the way they kiss. A passionate, slow, genuine kiss is enough to make a girl's heart melt...at least mine anyway. My point is that, it's never really just a kiss when it comes to females so guys be careful who you are kissing.

This video came to my mind while thinking about this topic.

Wisdom Pages: Authentic or Full of It?

By: @butterfliesblue

Many of us that are on Twitter like to follow different pages because of how inspirational they are or how some people find them as insightful . Many of these pages even help people to understand love a little more. Some times it seems as though they just so happen to say the right thing at the right time. Other times they can get annoying especially when about fifty of the people that you follow retweet these pages. The pages that I see retweeted the most are @TheSingleWoman, @RevRunWisdom, @zodiacfacts and @thelovestories.

Now I'm not knocking pages like these because personally I like to follow @drtiffanybrown and @mulahtruth because of how these pages speak the truth in an unbiased way. If we are all honest and use common sense then we should be able to determine whether or not many of these "facts" are true. For example, Rev Run doesn't even follow his own family on Twitter, so how can we take what he says as truth. I must confess that I have retweeted him a couple of times because he's made some valid points; however the other 85% seems to be something from Dr. Seuss
.

And to all of these Zodiac pages, have you all actually taken the time to sit back and realize that half of the things for your "sign" doesn't apply to you, but every other sign does? Also, do you actually think that the solar system can determine your fate based on the day you were born? By no means am I telling you to unfollow or follow someone based on my opinion because opinions aren't facts. I'm just suggesting that you think about why are you following these pages, and start using common sense before you flood others' timelines with retweets.

Waka Flocka is Drewski from College Hill: Proof!

by @butterfliesblue

For the longest a lot of people have thought that Waka Flocka is Drewski from College Hill Atlanta. Well after some thought and some research I got some proof, but first let's go back to the 106 & Park interview. He said that he didn't finish high school and thought about going back to major in geometry. I honestly didn't know that was a major (insert sarcastic tone here). To be on College Hill, you had to attend an HBCU (Historically Black College and University). So since this is Drewski, Waka has lied on tv like we wouldn't catch it. Anyway watch the two videos below. Besides the facial similarities, check out the fronts in "Drewski's" mouth on the second video at :33. You may not agree, but I still think it's the same person.

Filled Out vs Thick vs Fat

By: @butterfliesblue

There seems to be a lot of confusion as to what "filled out", "thick" or "fat" is. Well here's a little clarity. Filled out just simply means that you have developed as a woman. You've put on some meat on your bones in the right places but thin at the same time. A filled out woman may even have curves like Halle Berry for example. She's in shape and yet she has the curves of a woman.

Thick women may also have weight in the right places, curves, are filled out, and may be in shape; however their thighs are usually fully and curves more plump like Raven Symone BEFORE the baby weight (Before/After Comparison Below)

Now fat is pretty much self-explanatory. No need to hurt any feelings, just look at the picture.

So are you Filled Out, Thick, or Fat?

My Beautiful Sisters: Enough is Enough!

By @butterfliesblue

This article is being written in honor of the fallen off R&B singer Amerie, who recently dyed her hair blonde. I can't exactly talk about hair color because I have fallen slave to color in a bottle, but at what point does it become too far? Ladies ladies ladies, everyone cannot go blonde or wear the same shade of blonde so my beautiful sisters - please stop going with colors that do not compliment your skin color. Just because Keri Hilson or Beyonce' did it doesn't mean that you can.

View ImageView Image

If you do not stop, you'll end up looking like Amerie or Diddy's mom. As Amerie has shown, just because you are light skinned doesn't mean that you can wear blonde so you other high yellow chicks can sit down.

Am I My Brother's/Sister's Keeper?

In Genesis, God asked Cain where Abel was and he replied, "I know not; am I my brother's keeper?" This came to my mind after thinking about certain situations that have came up and been discussed on Twitter. One thing I've seen a lot of people brag about is being the "main" in a relationship. People don't be fooled. "Main" implies that there are others and that you aren't the only one. Some people be thinking that they are the "main" and is really the side chick/dude.

This is something for you to think about when reflecting on your relationship. There is a difference between being someone's "main" and "lady/man", because when someone gives you the title of being their "lady/man" and everyone knows it, then you usually don't have to worry about people on the side. The reason I titled this "Am I My Brother's/Sister's Keeper" is because I'm wondering if it is the place for the side chick/dude to tell the "main" what's been going on or vice versa? I'm not talking about in a way to break them up, but because if you were in that situation, wouldn't you want to know what's going on? Telling that person could be a way of looking out for that person. You could prevent a lot of heartache if you said something in the right way. Any thoughts?
