How far are we led to believe illegal immigrants will go to gain citizenship here in the United States? As far as Exploiting their unborn children? One of the major debates that has arisen, since midterms are in November, is the idea of the "Anchor" baby. Anchor Baby is a term used to describe children of illegal immigrants that are used strictly for their parents to gain citizenship here in the US. Many of the worlds Government leaders and Politicians are arguing the fact that these children are indeed being exploited, they are also arguing if the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, which grants citizenship to anyone born here in the USA, should be reviewed by due process of law. But how far is TOO far. It seems as if politicians are directly targeting the children of immigrants without any knowledge of their parents intentions. They don't know if the parents are indeed coming here to make a better life for their children, they only assume that parents are coming here to give birth to their children for the Birth Right of Citizenship. The Constitution states that a person or persons that are here in the US that cannot be tried for treason cannot be considered citizens. The children of diplomats don't receive citizenship when they are born and it took until 1872 for Americans Indians who were born on American soil to be granted citizenship. One can only ponder on the outcome of this wedge issue. Will we see it on midterm ballots in November? With the lack of Voting and Citizen Participation Can one even believe it is still possible to ratify the constitution this day in age? It will take 2/3rds of Congress and 3/4ths of states to ratify the 14th Amendment changes. Many don't have a great deal of faith being that the Constitution has only been ratified 17 times in the past 200 years. So do politicians think this is actually possible, or just using the issue to gain publicity? I guess we will know in 43days on Election Day (Nov. 2, 2010)
